RISAN

Nasir Ali Kemp (Born December 11, 1997), Going by his rap name "Risan", is a 16 year-old West Philadelphia native.  He loved to read and write poems and short stories around the age of 7 years old until 13. In his 8th grade year, he started to be more intrigued by rap. Risan would write random raps in notepads, but has since began to take rap seriously when he turned 16.  Risan’s goals in life are to be an independent artist for about 5 years to get his buzz up, sign a deal if he feels the deal is going to benefit him long-term, then 10 years from now, still do music, but fall back a little and go to college for business to open various successful businesses in his old West Philadelphia neighborhood. 

Risan looks up to figures like “Kanye West, with his creativity, speaking strategies, skits in his older albums, versatility, and confidence. Meek Mill, with his flow, look, and street credibility. Tyler The Creator, with his versatility, sense of humor in his music, creativity and his self-conscious style of rap. Fabolous, with his smooth flow on beats, charm and personality. Big Sean, with his up-tempo flow and verses on songs. “ 


Inspiration to overcome  adversity

Risan's childhood has been rough at times for him, with his father doing a 30 to life murder sentence, his big brother that he looks up to fighting a gun and drug case, not having a strong relationship with his mother, not having the father-figure he needed growing up, not having support with things he wanted to do in his life and sometimes struggling with shortcomings of his life. Although there's a lot of things he's been through, with his mindset and music, his future is looking very bright.
