Passion

As my passion for Art laid dormant in the back of my mind, the same heart that I had for art had become bitter and cold due to the harsh realities of Life.  Remembering my first love (Music) lead me back to a place where life had meaning and was filled with inspiration.  Still learning to crawl was the beginning of living out a dream… 

UpTown born & raised

Born and raised in Uptown Philly is where Cat Wms began writing poetry and reading music. Art has always been my passion as well as a means of expression.  In my formative years, my perspective as an artist has grown from canvas to canvas. By the age of 15, the Barber trade had become my primary source of income and inspiration. Growing up and navigating through the street life was a war in itself and holding on to my dreams became my biggest obstacle; surrounded by so many bad influences.  The world I grew up in rarely presented any positive outlooks. Being a hustler and chasing fast money slowly began to replace the bright future I had hoped for as a kid.

The Sun Within

There was a time when the streets were all I had and without finding an alternative route, I could never have been successful.  Becoming an Artist and using my gift was the only way to outgrow the dark cloud that blocked the sun from shining within. Now I can surely look back and appreciate the struggle for what it was and its purpose to strengthen my character as an artist.  Art will continue to imitate life whether its captured in photo, written in song, drawn through fashion or sculpted into hairstyles!
