Is This The Apocalypse?

Is This The Apocalypse?

Something is happening across the world and it’s not being reported the way it should. Instead of linking it globally we see these issues locally. That perspective can greatly diminish the impact of urgency that is much needed for this crisis. Not just for the animals, but also for the people who consume them.

Many animals over the past years have been declining as we see a spike in ocean temperatures all over the world. I wanted to just focus on the last two months in order to not overwhelm the reader. There are massive kills all over the planet.

New York

Florida

Picture
In New York City 1000’s of fish are dead due to lack of oxygen in the water. The fish went North towards Long Island and ended up in The Shinnecock Canal. They were supposed to head south towards Virginia Beach.

Montana

Picture
In Montana a pneumonia epidemic has killed 37 big horned sheep on the National Bison Range - over 20 percent of the population. Pneumonia has a profound effect in wild sheep. The disease has previously affected other populations of sheep not on the bison range. U.S. Fish and Wildlife Services say the first signs of pneumonia showed up in August. Wildlife biologist Amy Lisk says it's not uncommon for sheep to have a cough in late summer, but they noticed increased coughing extending beyond that. The bison range has never seen this high of a mortality rate from one illness among a population.

Alaska

Picture
In the Bering Strait of Alaska, The Tufted Puffins are washing up on the shores of the Bering Sea. Scientist have begun to see a large population of the white-masked, orange-beaked seabird. The Bering Sea provides the most seafood than anywhere else in North America.

With record warm temperatures Scientists feel the marine food chain took a dive for the worst. Animals such as seals, salmon, seabirds, crab and the frozen fish processed favorite the Pollock fishing industry. Estimated at 1 billion dollars and used at Mcdonald’s to fish sticks. "The Bering Sea has been off-the-charts warm," said Nate Mantua, an ecologist at NOAA’s Southwest Fisheries Science Center in Santa Cruz, California.

"We've never seen anything like this. We're in uncharted territory. We're in the midst of an extraordinary time." "In 10 years of monitoring, we've only seen six puffins wash in—total," said Julia Parrish, a University of Washington professor who coordinates a West Coast volunteer bird-monitoring network. "Now we've seen nearly 250 in 20 days. And these islands are small dots in the middle of a huge ocean. The entire puffin population is only 6,000 birds, and we project half that many may be affected."

In Florida the situation is very dire. 55 Tons of Dead Fish have been removed from the canals of Long Boat Key, Florida. Long Boat Key is home to some of the most pristine beaches in the world. However, with a higher than usual concentration of microscopic algae called Karenia brevis. This causes a toxic reaction with the fish and mammals of the sea as well as severe breathing problems in humans.

Texas

Picture
1000’s of Fish die in Abilene, Texas. The reason was cited as lack of oxygen in the pond. When temperatures rise the fish seek refuge in the deeper and darker areas. Which also depletes the oxygen when the fish are in large clusters.

Some pretty crazy shit has been happening in the world. Yes, Trump has become President. Bruce Jenner is now Caitlyn Jenner, and many of the Fish and Animals of the Sea are becoming History! - Marcus Antonio

Washington

Picture
In Seattle, Washington 1600 dead Sockeye Salmon have been collected by biologist in hopes to understand why they have died at such a rapid rate. Early conclusions are pointing towards warming water temps rather than a parasite. Research suggests the salmon were killed before they could spawn.

In Cape Cod, Thousands of Atlantic saury, or skippers or needlefish as they’re also known, perished on the Brewster flats last week. Strollers were startled to see beaches littered with the shiny blue-silvery fish, about 10-inches long with needle-like bills. “They are pretty temperature sensitive and they were probably trapped last week when it got cold [last] Wednesday night. The next morning when we got in we were getting a lot of phone calls.”

“My kids and I volunteer with the Wellfleet Audubon turtle rescue program,” reported Michael Lach of Brewster. We walk the Bay from Ellis Landing to Crosby Beach. “We’ve come across stranded turtles, dead seabirds and occasionally these sauries. But we’ve never seen a mass stranding on this scale. There are thousands upon thousands across a couple miles of Brewster beach.”Atlantic saury are pretty widespread on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean.

On our side they range from Newfoundland to Carolina. But they are migratory fish moving north in the summer and south in the fall. They prefer waters between 45 and 75 degrees.

OHIO

How do we know it's bad? One word: Mussels. Mussels are the Canary in Coal mine for marine life. They also perform the duty of filtration. Empty shells are lining the banks of America's Rivers and Lakes at an alarming rate. In particular the Big Darby in Ohio. "This is one of the few last healthy rivers in America. If we lose that we're losing a key piece of our heritage," said John Tetzloff, president of the Darby Creek Association. "Mussels have been in decline for decades. It was a recipe for disaster and this is the disaster. This could be the end of Darby as we know it."

The First Four Trumpets
…8Then the second angel sounded his trumpet, and something like a great mountain burning with fire was thrown into the sea. A third of the sea turned to blood, 9athird of the living creatures in the sea died, and a third of the ships were destroyed. 10Then the third angel sounded his trumpet, and a great star burning like a torch fell from heaven and landed on a third of the rivers and on the springs of water.… -KJV
