According to Jay-Z in this visual interpretation of the 1980's war on the drug game is quite informative. Written and Narrated by the hip hop mogul is reminiscent of a Scorsese movie. It's completed by Molly Crababble, the talented artist
working free form on camera. 

Jay prefers to focus on the gross disproportion of people of color charged and convicted of harsh drug crimes as opposed to whites who faced more lenient charges and convictions  in the United States. Jay also goes on to illustrate how race plays a part in the new emerging economy in the Marijuana industry. What white men are free to invest in, black men who did the very same thing stood to be convicted and imprisoned and forbade to invest, open, sell, or grow marijuana for business purposes. 

It's not too many places that let convicted felons invest business's, or serve on boards. So it's a 'race' thing, it's a 'convicted felon' thing. It can appear that way when most of the convicted felons affected are disportionately people of color. I commend Jay for creating such a colorful way of explaining a tough topic: Black men in the U.S. being disportionately shut out of the  U.S. economy.

It's seems a person arriving from East Bumble &u^k has a better chance of owning a home, getting a loan, and opening a business, then Jaheem who may have just gotten home from prison on drug charges. Due to the over aggressive police tactics in low income neighborhoods, judicial bias to fill the growing private prison business's/ free labor factories, and politicians who are in favor of a more militant police state in the United States, and in favor of detaining, displacing, and dispersing of certain factions of the US citizenry. 

Jay Z declares "Rates of drug use are as high as they were when Nixon declared this so-called war in 1971. Forty-five years later, it's time to rethink our policies and laws. The War on Drugs is an epic fail."
